Day 1.
Arrive Arusha town and overnight in a relaxing hotel. Enjoy an
African dinner in peaceful surroundings.
Day 2.
Travel in a 4x4 to the Mbulu Highlands and visit the lands of the
Barabaig. These people are herders and warriors resident here for
centuries. When we arrive we will be greeted by the leader of the
homestead and his wives. The afternoon is spent understanding the
life of the Barabaif women and some of their crafts including creating
decorated hides.
Day 3.
Arise at dawn to catch the morning milking. We will follow the
herds in the morning, as well as watching the incredible bird life
and learning about the liocal uses of all the different plants and
trees. The Barabaig are also famous for their beliefs about trees.
We will visit one of these sacred sites and learn about the rituals
which are associated with them. Dinner this evening is locally prepared
and freshly killed goat. You are welcome to help prepare the meal!
Day 4.
Breakfast on local milk and tea before heading back to town and
onto the next stage of your journey.
